As of August 15, 2024, the dentists of Fredericksburg Dental Associates will no longer be considered participating or “in-network” providers with Federal BCBS FEHBPs 111, 112, and 113. We will continue to participate with plans 104, 105, and 106.
This change will primarily impact our federal patients that do not have an additional dental plan supplement to their 111, 112, and 113 medical plans. The 111, 112, and 113 plans unfortunately do not have out of network benefits so patients will not have any coverage at our office unless they enrolled into one of the dental plan supplements offered to federal employees or have a secondary dental plan with a spouse/partner.
If you do have a supplemental dental plan either with the FEHBP or elsewhere the impact of the termination of these plans will go largely unnoticed by you because your supplemental plan has sufficient preventative coverage. Please be mindful the 111, 112, and 113 dental riders only had limited preventative coverage. If you are interested in enrolling in a supplemental plan, open enrollment for federal employees will start in November for a January effective date. We do participate in the following FEHBP PPO dental supplement plans: FEP Blue, Delta Dental, Aetna, GEHA and United Healthcare.
